National Golden Gloves 2010
Well done to Our Boxing Team last weekend at the National Golden Gloves titles.
7 Gold medals and 4 silvers were won by our Team.
We had some outstanding displays of Boxing on the weekend and above all,our Team was a credit to The Boxing Shop by carrying themselves in a professional manner whether they were fighting or spectating.
Campbell Cobbo-Riley was exceptional ,his REVENGE win over Brandon Ogilvie (Brandon beat Campbell earlier this year to represent Australia at the world championships where he was ranked 16th in the world),was very sweet.Campbell stuck to the game plan perfectly and showed how much he has improved this year with hard work and dedication. This was By Far the performance of the weekend!
Mitchell Coomer though won the boxing shop's boxer of the tournament by boxing twice in 2 days and beating 2 very good and experienced opponents (one of the boys had already beaten Mitchell twice before),"BOOMER" as he is known is a great character around the club but when it comes to professionalism and studying opponents, there is none better.
Also Congratulations to Emma Payne and Kordell Cobb0-Mould who tasted victory for the first time (what a tournament to do it in!!)
Out of this tournament there were 10 boxers picked to go to Russia on a trip lead by Kostya Tzyu,The Boxing Shop had 4 Boxers picked in this team, Gareth Bamin,Justin Black,Mitchell "BOOMER" Coomer and Campbell Cobbo - Riley,a great effort Boys.
Well done to every one,you did us all proud.

August 2010 - In House Boxing Competition
In House Sparring Competition ,August 2010.
Well done to all members of The Boxing Shop, who took part in our In House sparring competition on Saturday.
A great turn out of supporters and the 15 bouts that took place were all very competitive.
As the head coach, it was great to see our up and coming stars go through their paces and its credit to our coaching staff and structure to see how everyone is progressing.
It was good for everyone in the crowd to see the work that some of our young kids have done and to be able to see some skill full boxing from our junior boys and girls.
Boxer of the Week Goes to Nick Latham,a great effort against a boxer who has already had 5 official bouts (PJ Freehill).Nick was outstanding, using his skilled left hand to be his favourite weapon,by Jabbing and hooking his way through the bout.Even though PJ won a close decision,Nick showed some great skills and has shown that he has what it takes if he decides to take the next step into the official competitive ring.
Also a great effort by all our females sam Grant,Tabitha Bird,Minna Pedan and Eva Frewin,a great effort girls and you all boxed very competitively and showed great "Sports-woman-ship".
Thank For your Efforts everyone and we Look forward to bringing you "Old School Fightcamp" On August 16.....Tough times dont last , tough people do!!

New Caledonia 2010
Seru Whippy was team manager for the tour and he was very happy with how his team went about their duties in a very professional manner, especially for being such a young squad.
All the boys stood up to the Occasion and for the first time ever, many of the team were fighting against veteran seniors who had been involved of boxing for 15 years.
Once again a great effort boys!
